What is a Vibeathon?
The AI Vibeathon is a beginner-friendly, one-day youth innovation challenge where Tulsa-area high school students work in teams to tackle real-world challenges, brainstorm solutions, use AI to develop their ideas, and showcase what they create.
No coding or AI experience is required. Throughout the day, students will learn new tools, receive guidance from technology professionals, build an AI-powered project, and present what they create in a fun, supportive environment.

Full Event Details

- Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Location: Oklahoma State University – Tulsa Campus
- Who Can Attend: High School Students (Grades 9–12)
- Cost: Free
- Experience Required: None! No coding or AI experience is necessary.
- What’s Included: Hands-on AI activities, snacks, lunch, mentorship from technology professionals, prizes, and event swag.
- Transportation: If signing up as an individual participant, students/parents & guardians are responsible for arranging their own transportation. If a student has signed up with their school/youth organization, that school/organization is responsible for trasnportation.
- Devices: Students should bring a school-issued laptop if available or personal laptop. Devices may be available upon request.
- Registration: Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

FAQs
Who can participate?
The AI Vibeathon is designed for high school students in grades 9-12. No previous coding, technical, or AI experience is required! We welcome curious students, creatives, problem-solvers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in trying something new.
Is there a cost to participate?
No! The AI Vibeathon is free for participating students and schools.
Are permission forms required?
Yes. Every student will need a completed AI Vibeathon Student Participation Permission Form before participating.
For students under 18, the form must be completed by a parent or guardian. Students who are 18 or older may complete the form on their own behalf. You can read and sign the permission form digitally here. The form is is available in English and Spanish.
Students attending with a school may also need to complete any forms required by their school for the trip.

The event will take place Thursday, September 24, 2026 at OSU-Tulsa.

What will students do during the day?
Students will work in teams through guided challenges to brainstorm, build, test, and showcase a project using AI. Along the way, they’ll meet mentors and working professionals, explore college and career pathways, and experience what it’s like to turn an idea into something tangible.
Do students need to know how to code or use AI?
No! The experience is designed to be beginner-friendly, and students will receive guidance throughout the day. Students do not need coding, technical, or AI experience to participate.
Will students need to bring a computer?
Students are encouraged to bring a school-issued laptop or Chromebook and charger, if approved by their school. Team laptops will also be available upon request, so not having a device will not prevent a student from participating.
What should students bring?
Students should bring:
- Curiosity and a willingness to build something new!
- A school-issued laptop or Chromebook and charger, if approved by their school
- Cell phones are allowed and encouraged, as they will be used for research. However, not having a cell phone will not prevent students from participating.
All other materials needed for the Vibeathon will be provided. Additional event-day information will be shared before September 24.
Will food be provided?
Yes. Lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided. Students and families will have an opportunity to share relevant dietary restrictions or food allergies in advance.
Will students be photographed or recorded?
Photography and video may take place throughout the event. The permission form allows students who are 18+ or parents/guardians of students under 18 to indicate their photo/video preference. Choosing not to participate in intentional photography or video will not prevent a student from participating in the Vibeathon.
Who will students interact with during the event?
Students will spend the day alongside their teammates and interact with event staff, mentors, volunteers, college representatives, working professionals, and other participating students. Activities will take place in open, group-based event spaces.
Are mentors and volunteers background checked?
Yes. Onsite mentors and volunteers who will interact with students are required to complete a background check before participating in the event.
Who is responsible for supervising students attending with a school?
Schools bringing student groups should provide any chaperones required by their school and follow their normal student supervision procedures. Vibeathon staff, mentors, and volunteers will be onsite throughout the experience to facilitate activities and support participating students.
What is the Community Showcase?
The day will conclude with a Community Showcase, where students get to share what they’ve built with invited guests, professionals, and members of the Tulsa community.
The showcase will take place in the open event space with event staff, volunteers, mentors, and other participants present.
What if a student needs accommodations?
We want students to be able to fully participate in the experience. Families and schools are encouraged to share any accessibility, dietary, or other accommodation needs in advance so our team can prepare.
