Self-Care Recipe 1 | Sweat Baby, Sweat with a Fun Workout

Fun Workout Recipe

My favorite way to sweat is to hit up my local YMCA and attend one of their amazing group class workouts. I’ve run through a few classes (cycling, HITT, yoga, line dancing, etc.), but the one that has absolutely won me over is Zumba.

I attribute my consistent attendance to my instructor Nicole! She leans heavily on popular rap tracks and today’s top dance moves to get her students excited about her class. Her class is usually packed, and that speaks volumes!

I know you can’t wait to get up and get moving, so I’ve included one of my favorite Zumba Youtube instructors, Jessica, above! Her teaching style, moves, and energy closely resemble my Zumba instructors’. So have fun, and let me know what you think!

Fun Workout Recipe Alternatives

I get it, sometimes you really don’t feel like jumping around. Alternatively, you could always grab your handy-dandy gym membership and just bust out a few steps, hop on a cycling bike, or hit up the weight machines.

When I’m not feeling group classes, I mix and match the following exercises:

Now, remember I don’t do every single thing above every single time. Try the ones you think you’ll like, but don’t over it! Remember, exercise is a self-care cocktail, so only do what feels good to you!

Looking to spice up your workout, and actually mix up some real cocktails? Try tipsy yoga instead!

Self-Care Recipe 2 | Detoxify with a DIY Spa Day

DIY Spa Day Ingredients

DIY Spa Day Recipe

I’m guilty of not taking enough me-time. Especially when it comes to detoxing and just relaxing with something as simple as a bath or an at-home spa session.

The number one thing you’ll need is a relaxed mind, soothing music, and a nice hot bath for soaking. What you decide to focus on, on said Spa Day is completely up to you. If I were setting one up, this is what mine would look like:

I’d blast my favorite soothing tunes, and hop in my steaming hot bath. I’d pour some Epsom Salt or toss a bath bomb in the tub. Currently, I’m using Yogahhh! Detox Bath. It came in my Fab Fit Fun Box! Honestly, I don’t see a huge impact with this Epsom Salt, and you can very well use any cheaper alternatives that are sold at Walmart or any other local drugstore, and it’ll get the job done.

The same thing goes for bath bombs. I have a few from Lush (from my Japan trip!) that I need to use, but you can definitely stock up on these at your local Walmart or Target as well. These bath bombs can also double as bubble bath bombs if you purchase the right one!

Moving on, I’d make sure to light a candle or two. I normally stock up on dollar store candles, but Walmart and Bath & Body Works both offer an array of candles. One scent that I’ve been feeling is White Barn’s Copper Coconut (Also, I absolutely did not spend $40 on a candle. Be on the lookout for discounts at Bath & Body Works!)

Now, the relaxing part. I’d start off by using some sort of face mask. It could be an intense cleaning one, or a fairly inexpensive one. If you’re looking to go a more natural route, I recommend the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask. If you’d rather make a quick run to your local Walmart, then the Freeman Feeling Beautiful masks are a nice go-to for me.

I’d wash off my mask, then wash my body. I’d then move on to massaging any pain areas, including my feet! I walk so much that this is an absolute must for me. If I decide not to do this while I’m in the tub, I hop out and place my feet inside of some kind of foot massager. If I need any extra body massages I’d use the PFUM handheld massage gun.

After all of that is done, I’ll move on to painting my finger and toenails. I’m a cheap-o, so Walmart nail polish is my go-to. I’ve been getting lots of compliments on my Sinful Colors’ “Lie-Lac” and Pure Ice’s “Periwinkle In Time” nail colors. Try it out! Also, I’m a huge advocate for healthy nails, so make sure you clip any hangnails or weak nails, you’re using a base coat, and use a top coat!

Recipe 3 | Be The Center of Attention with a Solo Date Night

Solo Date Night Ingredients

Solo Date Night Recipes

Whoever declared date night a thing for only couples, was sadly mistaken. I use this time to get out of my little bubble and do something that I wouldn’t normally do.

Adventurous Solo Date Ideas

If you’re looking for spontaneous activities, you can use my personal bucket list and challenges to get out and do something fun!

If you’re not feeling my bucket list, no worries. I also use sites like Eventbrite, Groupon, or Airbnb Experiences to find bizarre local activities that I wouldn’t normally do.

Alternatively, if food is on your mind try hopping on yelp, and finding a new restaurant to try in your city. If you happen to live in Atlanta, I have you covered! Use my Atlanta Food Collection to DIY your own Atlanta Food Tour.

Chill Solo Date Ideas

If you’d rather keep it simple, hitting up you’re local dinner & movie combo theater (in my city Movie Tavern is where I like to go), is a good option.

If you really, really want to keep it lowkey, stay in, read a book, play some video games, cook your favorite food, or pull an all-night binge session. The options are truly endless.

Not sure what to watch? Check out my tv binge list here, or watch a movie/tv show via the PlutoTV app below.
