Hey! So, if you’ve found yourself here, chances are you’re curious about my tips on how I navigate the job search, especially in a competitive market.
I’ll skip the small talk, because. I know time is money. If I was still job searching (my last search: Mar 2023-Oct 2023),I would do the below.
If I Needed a Job Right This Minute:
- I would get clear on what type of job I wanted to do next.
- And then I would tell anyone who would listen about the job that I wanted. (Yes you have to “network”)
- Then I would edit my resume to match my new chosen job path. (FYI: cold applying with a resume still works!)
- Then my secret job-searching formula: I’d do these 3 things every week.
- Then, I would frequent job boards that are used by small, local businesses and look for companies in my town, city, and neighborhood. (job boards: Wellfound, Monster Jobs, Hired, Career Builder)
- I would also look for start-ups that no one has ever heard of. [aka less competition]. You got this! See a full list of little-known startups here.

- Last but not least, I would master the art of “The Follow-up.” People need you and your skills on their team/in their company, they just don’t know that they need you…yet! 🙂
