What Are the Dos and Don’ts of a Blog Post or Blog Proposal?
Anyone can submit, but there are a few rules! If you’ve written a full-length blog post/article or would like to propose an idea, please review the do’s and don’ts below.
Once you’ve drafted responses to the answers below, head over to the Human Resources page. Use this form to record your responses to the questions below. If your article is complete, please also include it in the form for further review.
DO
- DO: Include who you are, and why would you like to write for Breakroom Buddha.
- DO: Mention if you’ve been published before. (If not, cool. If so, include links!)
- DO: Include what your post will be about. (If you’ve already written it, go ahead and submit the full post here for review!)
- DO: Submit blog posts that are a minimum of 700 words.
- DO: Be detailed and unique, but stick to the blog niche. Include fun images, videos, or anything else that’ll support your content.
- DO: Fact check and cite sources.
- DO: Give opinions and have a human touch, but also give clear and useful examples, or advice when you can.
- DO: Include your contact (social media, link to website, etc.)
DON’T
- DON’T: Include affiliate or personal links that you will profit from or be considered spam.
- DON’T: Submit posts with spelling or grammar errors (be sure to take your time to edit your work).
- DON’T: Submit posts that you’ve already written for your personal blog or other blogs.
What If I Want To Submit Something Else to Breakroom Buddha?
You’re welcome to submit whatever comes to your mind! It doesn’t only have to be a written blog post.
If you need some ideas, here are a few examples:
- coloring pages (images that you draw!)
- puzzles
- brain-teasers, stories
- quick nuggets of early career advice
- any fun things that highlight your life outside of the office.
How Do I Submit to Breakroom Buddha?
If you’re ready to submit, head to the Human Resources page and fill out the form. Make sure to include the answers to the questions listed in the What Are the Dos and Donts of Blog Post or Blog Proposal? section above, if you are submitting a long-form blog post.
Submissions will only be accepted through the provided form. There is an opportunity to upload additional content if you need to.

Please allow up to 5 business days to edit and review any submitted works. The Breakroom Buddha editors reserve the right to edit any submitted content in order to match the voice of the breakroombudha.com blog. Include the words “Zen at Work” in your Subject Line so that we know you’ve read the guidelines.
