4 | PLATO
Plato’s mission is simple. The French company is working to address the lack of diversity in tech leadership roles, one mentor at a time. Plato focuses specifically on a 1:1 mentorship experience, which gives underrepresented professionals the opportunity to learn from leaders in engineering and product professions.
These mentor sessions take place during the “Circle Series.” These series’ are described as 45-minute sessions (1 per week, over 4 consecutive weeks). They take place with the same group of people and are led by the same mentor each week. The cap for each circle is set to 10 people.
There are three Circle Themes:
- Expertise Circles: These circles can be about anything. The topics change based on the experience of the mentor.
- Growing as a Minority / Career Circles: This circle addresses how to navigate spaces that are predominantly dominated by white males.
- Diversity and Inclusion Circles: This circle allows participants to share their knowledge and learn about Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Make sure you step into the circle confidently. Here are a few questions you can ask your mentor.
